1. Admiring Elisabethenkirche
Our day in Basel started with a visit to Elisabethenkirche, a beautiful church with stunning architecture. The church's grand structure and peaceful atmosphere immediately caught our attention, making it the perfect place to begin our exploration. We took some time to appreciate its intricate design and snapped a few photos before continuing on our journey.
2. Exploring Gymnasium Leonard
After Elisabethenkirche, we wandered over to Gymnasium Leonard, a historic site that caught our curiosity. The combination of old-world charm and modern elements in the area was fascinating. We took in the beautiful surroundings and admired the architecture before heading to our next stop.
3. Cozy Coffee at Tibits
Once we'd explored a bit more of the city, we were ready for a little pick-me-up. We headed to Tibits, a cozy vegetarian restaurant and bar. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge after a morning of exploring. We sipped on cappuccinos and caffe con creme, chatted, and planned our next moves for the day. It was nice to take a break and soak in the relaxed atmosphere.
4. Stroll Through Basel’s Beautiful Market Square
Feeling refreshed, we continued our adventure toward the Basel Town Hall, located in the heart of the Market Square. This iconic building with its striking red façade is a must-see in Basel. We marveled at its intricate design and historical importance, snapping a few photos along the way. The Market Square was full of life, even with the rain, making it a great spot to take in the city's vibe.
5. Cross the River Rhine for Gorgeous Views of Basel Minster
From the Market Square, we headed to the River Rhine. We crossed one of the many bridges and found ourselves on the other side, where we enjoyed stunning views of the Basel Minster. The Minster's Gothic architecture, with its red sandstone structure and impressive details, was one of the trip's highlights. The weather didn’t dampen the beauty of this remarkable building, and we spent some time soaking it all in.
6. Lunch at Pizzeria Ristorante Molino
After exploring the city’s landmarks, we were ready for lunch. We headed to Pizzeria Ristorante Molino, where we indulged in delicious pizza and lasagna. It was the perfect meal after a morning of walking and sightseeing. We relaxed and chatted, enjoying the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant and refueling for the afternoon.
7. Ending the Day with a Final View of the Rhine
After lunch, we took one last stroll along the River Rhine. The peaceful atmosphere by the river, combined with the stunning views of Basel's bridges and architecture, made for the perfect way to end our trip. With our flight back to Zagreb in the evening, we made our way to the bus station, reflecting on a wonderful day spent in Basel.
