No matter what anyone says, cleansing is the most important step in skincare. If you don’t clean your skin properly you can’t expect it to look and feel healthy. You can use the most expensive serums, toner,s and sunscreen, but if you are applying them on skin full of dirt, makeup and sweat those products will not be able to do their job properly.
However, not all cleansing products work the same. Nowadays you can choose different types of cleansing products from cleansing balms, micellar waters, and cleansing foam to cleansing oils. Today I want to talk a little bit more about SKIN 1004 - Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil.

Product Overview
As the name of this cleansing oil implies, it is very light and airy. Some cleansing oils tend to be very concentrated and oily which can make them harder to completely wash off. SKIN 1004 - Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil is perfect for those who like cleansing oils that don’t feel heavy. It has a slight herbal scent to it but it is not overpowering to the point that you can’t stand to use the product.
The main ingredient is of course Centella Asiatica. This is one of those ingredients that is suitable for all skin types and especially for sensitive skin. It is also infused with MCT Oil. That is the oil derived from coconut.
Skin1004 claims that this cleansing oil is great at removing makeup and any impurities. They also say that it prevents skin irritation as it contains six botanical oils. Well, is that completely true?
My Experience with SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil
This cleansing oil has been on my wishlist for the longest time. I’m a big fan of Skin1004 products and love to incorporate them into my daily skincare routine. I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about this cleansing oil and was so happy when I finally got the chance to try it.
I love the Skin1004 brand aesthetic. It is so minimalistic yet perfectly reflects the brand and the products. You can see and feel the quality of the packaging. As mentioned above, this cleansing oil has a slight scent to it. As someone who is quite sensitive to scents, I didn’t find this one too irritating. I also really like that the texture is on the lighter side as I have a lot of heavy cleansing oils. When in contact with water it turns slightly milky but not as much as real milk cleansing oils.
When I first tried it I had quite a lot of makeup on and I wanted to see how well it would remove it. It removed base makeup quite well but it was not powerful enough to remove eye makeup. That did leave me a little bit disappointed as I fell under the hype and thought that it would tick all the boxes. To give it some credit, I think that this is the perfect cleansing oil for a morning routine when you want to get rid of impurities that get onto your skin during sleep. I love that it feels refreshing and doesn’t leave any oily residue after washing it off with lukewarm water.
I have sensitive skin but didn’t experience any irritation or breakout while using this cleansing oil.
Pros & Cons
✅ Lightweight, non-greasy formula
✅ Gentle on sensitive skin
✅ Hydrating and soothing with Centella Asiatica
❌ Might not be enough for waterproof makeup
❌ Price point (depending on budget)
Is It Worth It?
To be completely honest, it is worth it if you are looking for a simple, gentle cleansing oil that will not irritate your skin or make it oily. If you are looking for a cleansing oil that will remove all of your makeup, even the waterproof one, in a matter of seconds, then I think there are much better choices than this cleansing oil.
When I reach for cleansing oil it is usually to thoroughly remove all of the makeup, sunscreen, and any impurities. That is the main reason why I think that would rather opt for other more effective cleansing oils.
