What Vitamins You Need in Your Skincare Routine

Who wants that radiant, healthy glow?

I’m sure we can all agree that dull skin isn’t a look we are trying to achieve. Sometimes it feels hard to make our skin look healthy, glowing, and fresh. Well, the reason behind that might be in using vitamins or not using enough of them in your skincare routine. Our body needs vitamins to feel and look healthy and that is the case with skin as well. There are different vitamins used in skincare products and all of them have different purposes.

Vitamin C

The most well-known and used vitamin is vitamin C. Based on the concentration of vitamin C in the skincare product it can help brighten the skin and make it look glowy and healthy. Those who struggle with hyperpigmentation should also reach for this vitamin as it can fade dark spots and make skin look more even. Collagen is important as it keeps our skin looking youthful and Vitamin C boosts collagen and protects your skin from free radicals.

Because of its popularity, you can find a lot of different Vitamin C skincare products. I prefer to use Vitamin C serums as there is usually a higher concentration of vitamin C in them. My current go-to is Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum. The only downfall of vitamin C products is that they are unstable, which means that if they are not packaged well they can quickly lose their properties.

Another thing to keep in mind is that for some people too high a concentration of vitamin C can be irritating. I would recommend using it in the morning as that way it can benefit your skin the most, but be sure to apply sunscreen after using it.

Vitamin A (Retinoids)

If you struggle with acne then someone probably recommended to you to start using retinol. Well, retinol and retinoids are actually vitamin A. If you don’t struggle with acne but may be in your 30s or 40s then you probably also think that it might be the time to start incorporating retinol in your skincare routine as it can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

It is always best to start with the lower dose and as your skin gets used to it, slowly start to increase the concentration. If you start to use higher doses often it can irritate your skin and make things worse than they were. If you don't know where to start you can try using TIA'M Vita A Bakuchiol Firming Eye Cream.

Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide)

Vitamin B3 better known as Niacinamide is one of the vitamins that you need in your skincare routine if you have sensitive skin prone to acne. Vitamin B3 can help reduce skin redness and improve the function of your skin barrier. If you struggle with large pores this vitamin can also help you minimize them and brighten your overall skin complexion.

I really enjoy using Tiam Vita B3 Source Serum. It is gentle on the skin and makes it feel calm and soothing.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant your skin needs. It will protect your skin from free radicals and help repair damaged skin. With the constant UV radiants and pollution, our skin constantly gets exposed to harmful cells that contribute to premature aging.

You can find vitamin E in serums, oils, and moisturizers. The first vitamin E product I used and loved was Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask. If you want to enhance its benefits, use it with vitamin C.

Vitamin B5 (Panthenol)

Those who have dry skin should definitely check Vitamin B5. This vitamin attracts and retains moisture in the skin. That means that it helps your skin to keep soft, supple, and hydrated. It can also help protect your skin’s natural barrier function. Vitamin B5 is great if you have sensitive skin as it has an anti-inflammatory proprietor that can help soothe irritated skin.

Tips for Incorporating Vitamins into Your Routine

Patch test: Always patch test new products before applying them to your entire face.

Start slow: Gradually introduce new products to avoid irritation.

Layer carefully: Understand the order in which to apply your products for optimal absorption.

Consult a dermatologist: For personalized advice on which vitamins are right for your skin.

Vitamins are a crucial part of the healthy and glowing skincare journey. Knowing which vitamins is a great solution for a certain skin problem, can save you time and stress. Remember, healthy skin starts from within! Nourish your skin with the right vitamins and enjoy a radiant complexion.
