House of Hur Purifying Cleansing Balm Review

In recent years, more and more people have realized the importance of properly cleansing their skin. From simply using water to makeup wipes and Micellar water, the options have evolved significantly, giving us a variety of cleansers to choose from. Cleansing balms, in particular, have gained a lot of popularity as an alternative to cleansing oils, which some people find too greasy.

House of Hur might not be a brand you are familiar with, as it’s relatively new but has quickly gained attention in recent years. I recently discovered that the brand was founded by Sunny Dahye, a Korean influencer well-known for her beauty-related videos. I’ll admit, I’m always a little skeptical when influencers release products, so I was curious to try the House of Hur Purifying Cleansing Balm and share my honest thoughts with you.

Product Overview

The first thing that surprised me was the ingredient list. It includes some unique ingredients that I haven’t seen in other skincare products. First, there’s strawberry extract, which is known for its antioxidant properties that help soothe the skin. Then there’s cherry fruit extract, which is rich in vitamins and minerals.

One ingredient that particularly caught my attention is Vitamin Tree Fruit Extract—I’ve heard great things about its ability to control sebum production and balance oily skin. Finally, for gentle exfoliation, the balm contains finely ground cranberry powder, which helps remove dead skin cells and impurities.

When it comes to texture, this cleansing balm is quite unique. It feels like a sherbet that melts into a cleansing oil but without feeling overly greasy. Once you add a little water, it transforms into a milky consistency that rinses off easily.

The product is designed for all skin types, and one thing that really impressed me is the packaging. It comes in a twist-up dispenser, which is not only more hygienic but also makes it easier to control how much product you use.

That said, it’s on the more expensive side for cleansing balms, and I’m not entirely convinced that the quality justifies the price. There are definitely cheaper alternatives that perform just as well.

Personal Experience

I have combination skin and have tried many cleansing balms over the years. While this one feels nice on the skin and does the job well, I wouldn’t say it stands out as anything extraordinary. The packaging, however, does set it apart—it’s incredibly convenient. I love that I can just twist up the dispenser and get the perfect amount of product without any mess.

Another plus is that it’s fragrance-free, which is really important for me since I’m sensitive to strong scents.

I typically use it as the first step of my skincare routine, either in the morning or at night. At night, I apply a little more to remove makeup and sunscreen. It does a good job at cleansing without leaving my skin feeling tight or dry, which I really appreciate.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Effectively removes makeup and impurities
  • Gentle and suitable for sensitive skin
  • Leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated
  • Convenient and hygienic packaging
  • Fragrance-free

Cons:

  • The price point is higher compared to some drugstore cleansing balms

Overall Rating and Recommendation

All in all, the House of Hur Purifying Cleansing Balm does what it’s supposed to do, and it does it well. However, I still believe there are excellent cleansing balms available for much less. While I’ve enjoyed using this balm, I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing it—the price just doesn’t align with the value for me, especially considering it comes in a 50ml size.
