7 Books I Want To Read Before The End of The Year

Thursday, September 5, 2024

We are 3 months away from 2025 and even thinking about it gave me chills knowing. It is probably because I have not exactly been reading as much as I wanted. As an avid book reader and collector, I decided to make some damage and order a few books from Libristo. Can you believe that this is my first time buying books online? I usually like to take some time and check bookstores and stands. That being said, here are 7 books I want to read until the end of this year.

1. Beach Read by Emily Henry

Emily Henry is one of those authors whose books you’ve been probably seeing all over social media. I already read and enjoyed two of her books, Book Lovers and Happy Place. I decided that picking more of her books would be a good idea. Another big influence on me when it comes to getting this book is Booktube. Beach Read is one of my favorite Haley Pham romance books. I think we have a similar taste in books when it comes to romance so I’m sure I’ll love this book.

The trope of Beach Read could be categorized as enemies to lovers. This book follows two writers, January and Augustus. They are both writers with not-so-fond feelings about each other. For three months they will be living in the beach house next to each other. As they both write different genres of books they decide to switch and try to embark on a different creative journey.

2. People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

Yes, I did get another Emily Henry book to read till the end of this year. People We Meet on Vacation is another contemporary romance that a lot of people love. I wanted to read this book on my Summer vacation but it wasn’t delivered by the time I left so I decided to read it as soon as I finish Final Offer by Lauren Asher.

In this book, the main characters are Poppy and Alex. They met at college and became friends. Poppy is outgoing and likes to have fun while Alex is more reserved and quiet. There is a dual timeline, the past when they were friends, and the present where they are not on the best terms.

3. Better than the Movies by Lynn Painter

This is a young adult romance that I heard a lot of people find to be one of the best romance books. I have a love-hate relationship with YA as sometimes it is hard to relate to them.

However, I decided to give Better than the Movies a go and see if I would have the same thoughts on it as my favorite booktubers. I actually don’t know much about the book and I want it to be like that until I start reading it.

4. Powerless by Lauren Roberts

One “interesting” thing about me is that I never actually read a real fantasy book at least not as long as I could remember. I usually just stick with contemporary romance books and don’t branch into other genres. After seeing so many people being obsessed with fantasy books I decided to search a little bit to find the one that will slowly lead me into this whole new world.

One book that was constantly recommended to those stepping into this field was Powerless by Lauren Roberts. This book is a part of The Powerless Trilogy. I really hope that I’ll enjoy it and that it will make me fall in love with fantasy books.

5. The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams

I’ve been wanting to read The Cheat Sheet for so long as so many people find it to be a cute romance book. I wanted something sweet and short after I read Powerless. This trope in this book is fake dating and I don’t think I read a lot of books with that trope. After reading the summary I think that I will enjoy this book and can’t wait to share my thoughts.

6. Part of Your World Abby Yimenez

Part of Your World is the first book in the Part of Your World Trilogy. It follows ER doctor Alexis Montgomery and a small-town guy Daniel. To be completely honest that’s all I know about this book. Again, I picked it up because I heard so many people recommending it and it sounded like something I would enjoy reading.

7. Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

Surprisingly, I decided to buy another fantasy book. Once Upon a Broken Heart is a fairly short fantasy book that I think is perfect as I’m just stepping into this genre. It should give a fairytale vibe which is something I’m looking forward to. I wonder if it will make me feel the way fairytales made me feel when I was younger. I’m used to imagining characters and plots while reading romance books and I’m curious how different it will be while reading fantasy.

Did you read any of these books? What book do you want to read till the end of the year?
