GUEST POST | Let's talk about this little thing called Life. One thing that is known to be true is that life is beautiful but can be hectic. Daily, people are constantly pulled in different directions. From husbands, wives, children, careers, and family members our plates are full! So amid everything, it's important to take care of ourselves. Why should we do that?
Self-care is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's health. That's the dictionary's definition but here's a different one. Making sure that you are taking care of your happiness in daily life. After all, you are a priority, right?
TYPES OF SELF-CARE
There are four types of self-care so let's explore.
1. Physical- ( The Body) Here are some examples like working out at the gym, eating right, drinking water, and even cleaning up clutter. (Cluttered mind makes a Cluttered home)
2. Emotional- (The Heart) Ever heard the saying, "Misery loves company?" Watch who you are around. Be with positive people, also set boundaries, boundaries are great! They help you and the people in your life. It's important to have healthy relationships. Don't allow things to build up, confront things as they happen.
3. Psychological- (The Mind ) Personal and Professional Development! Don't give your attention to things you can't control. Keep in mind that you need to take time to reflect, also if you are a writer, you can journal. But if you aren't then you can still journal, also any place that helps you grow, learn and reflect. These places help you to grow which is important in this aspect. Growth is important.
4. Spiritual- (The Spirit) This includes prayer or meditation. Be present at the moment and practice gratitude. Spend time in nature. (Non-material aspects of life)
How many areas are you doing? Or are you doing all of them? Do you see any room for improvement?

Self-care is very important. It is said that it helps reduce stress, decreases depression, and increases happiness as well as positive coping mechanisms, also other things. Always remember you can not pour out of an empty vessel. If you say well, what if I don't have the time for self-care, here is what happens if you don't do self-care.
Here's a Public Service Announcement, no self-care is called Self-Neglect. Do you like that word? But Self-Neglect is an adult that puts their health, safety, or just who they are, aka well-being, at risk.
How does this look? Can you picture a stressed person? When a person gets stressed they are fed up with reality, the facial expressions show it!
Let's recap what we talked about thus far. We mentioned and talked about what self-care is and why it's important, even what happens when we don't have any self-care training on a normal basis. Now, what happens to our bodies with no self-care. Hold on to your hats!
Our bodies are a blessing, and we need them to go from place to place. We also need to help ourselves and others. When we don't take care of them we are asking our bodies to eventually shut down. In school, we learned that water is important and if we don't drink water we won't live long because our bodies are mostly water.
The same can be said for self-care, we must have our time to reflect, pray, eat right, and be with positive people. But daily, we need to do one thing for ourselves. If we take care of our bodies, our bodies will take care of us.

Why Should I Care?
Well, everyone! I speak on this topic because it's very real for me. I came a long way in my self-care journey. Before in life, I didn't take care of myself. On one occasion I remembered fainting because I left my house and walked around in the heat. I had drunk no water or even eaten anything. My friends were so upset with me.
Here are some things I love to do, writing, going to the gym. Also going into the other bedroom and kinda reflect and afterward cook a nice vegan dish! But have I always, no I haven't but as I've gotten older and matured, it became something that became a part of me. In life I'm constantly doing a lot of ministries, people need help and she is grateful to be a blessing to you.
Here's some food for thought, our lives are to help others, not just ourselves. No man is an island so we all need each other.
So, what will you do?
In Conclusion, We talked about the positives of doing self-care and even the negatives of not doing self-care. Remember, don't get so consumed with your daily life that you forget that you need time to adjust and that you need care as well. You can't pour out of an empty vessel. I hope you realize that it's important. Also, self-care doesn't mean that you are selfish but it means that you love yourself and you love others. I hope that you take this to heart.
