6 Things you need to do on Your Day Off

Wednesday, January 9, 2019

Those days when you’re off work or free from any university obligations might be rare but they are precious. Wasting those kinds of days doing absolutely nothing may not be the best idea. There is nothing worse than realizing that you’ve done absolutely nothing meaningful for the whole day and regretting it. Keep reading if you want to know which 6 things I think you should definitely do on your day off.

WAKE UP EARLY
Although this might sound like the last thing you want to do on your day off, trust me you need to. This doesn’t mean that you must wake up at 6 am; it just means that you don’t need to spend your day off laying in bed. I recommend you to wake up one hour after you would usually wake up for going to work. I find that this works the best for me personally as my body gets enough sleep and feels like I had a big lay in.

I don’t really know what is the point of wasting half of your day doing absolutely nothing when you could really use your free day wisely. Waking up early will make you realize that you now have a whole day ahead of you and much more free time to do all the things you can because of your working schedule.

TAKE A WALK
Most of the times during the week we tend to forget to take a walk just for the sake of it. If you’re walking from your home to work and back that isn’t really a walk I’m talking about. It’s important to take a walk where you don’t necessary need to go somewhere important. The best walks are the one when you can completely disconnect and just clear your thoughts from all the buzz.

If you can’t leave your phone at home than be sure to turn off the sound and internet collection so that nobody can disturb you. If you have a dog then this is even better excuse to take a long walk through park or nearby forest. Nothing can heal your mind and soul as the nature. It’s the best medicine for most of your problems as it gives you time to think and reconnect with yourself and your thoughts.

ORGANIZE YOUR HOME
This one might be fun for some and burden for others but I think that it’s quite important. Having day off is a great reason to finally organize your home or at least some parts of it. When you’re working it can easily get messy and unorganized. Most of the time when your space is messy so is your mind and having a lovely day off won’t be that lovely if your mind and spaces is cramped with unnecessary things.

Take a hour or two to go through each room if you have your own space or just your bedroom. Getting rid of anything that doesn’t belong in that space and organizing the things that do belong there will make you mood better. If this feels like a chore to you try and do it in the morning and jam while you’re doing it.

COOK AND BAKE
I don’t want to hear an excuse that you’re not a good cook. That doesn’t exist...okay it does but you can always improve. I don’t know about you but I find spending time in kitchen very relaxing. Ditch a take out of or restaurant and make your own three course meal…or one, you do you. There are so many easy but absolutely delicious meals you can prepare under 30 minutes with ingredients that you already have in your kitchen.

So why not just be a master chef. Cooking and baking really is something everyone should do more often and it definitely is hard to when you have a full time job and you feel too tired to even eat none the less to actually make a meal. Days off are a great time to prepare meals in advance so that you don’t need to think about it over the week.

WATCH ONE EPISODE OF YOUR FAVE TV SHOW
I know how tempting it can be to binge watch your favorite show in one sitting but that isn’t really the smartest idea. That can take quite a lot of your time and it’s not very healthy. As ones you start there is no going back until it’s midnight and you need to go to bed as your off day is done and you need to go to work tomorrow. Watching one episode in the afternoon or before you go to bed might be better option.

If you think about it the time that you spent watching a tv show you could’ve read a book or work out which is much better for you. I’m not saying that you should stop watching tv shows completely, I’m just saying that there is a better way of doing so. There are definitely some days when it’s okay to binge watch but those kinds of days shouldn’t come that often.

PAMPER YOURSELF
Days off are just perfect for a deep pamper time that’s been on hold for I’m sure too long. It’s hard to take that much needed me-time when you have hundred other things to do. Relaxing somehow always takes a back seat. This should be a priority on your day off, reserve specific time just for yourself. Make a pamper routine that works best for you and don’t postpone it.

Making a warm bath with divine bath bombs while listening to music might be just perfect for you. Simply applying face mask and reading a book is another way you can do it as well. As it is a me-time you should do what feels best for you and what will make you the most relaxed.
