So if you follow me on twitter you might noticed that I’ve been into K-dramas recently. It has been my latest obsession. I accidentally saw some clips on YouTube and decided to give them a go. I’ve watched 3 dramas in 3 days which is very for me as I never binge watch a TV show.
I find them to be very interesting and every episode ends so that you just need to know what’ll happen next. I love the way that they are shoot and that they don’t complicate the plot. They are 16, 1 hour episode long which I find perfect. Of course I don’t know Korean but thankfully there are a lot of sites on which you can watch them with English subtitles.
THE WEIGHTLIFTER FAIRY (2016)
It all started with this drama. It’s about Kim Bok-joo and Jung Joon-hyung. They are college athletes trying to fight for their dreams. Kim Bok-joo is weightlifter and Jung Joon-hyung is swimmer. I found it to be a very interesting and light hearted story which is something I was looking for. I found out that it’s actually inspired by the life of Olympic gold medalist Jang Mi-ran. I like the whole concept of this drama. Would definitely recommend you to watch it if you’re just starting to get more interested in K-dramas.
THE K2 (2016)
This one is more on the serious side. If you’re into action and romantic then I think you’ll love it. The main character is Kim Je-ha known as K2. He’s a former mercenary soldier. He’s been accused for murder of his fiancée and got back to South Korea for a revenge. There comes An-na with life struggles. K2 becomes her bodyguard and of course the fall in love. This drama has some amazing action scenes which make it so much exciting. The plot is moving really fast and you won’t get bored.
FIGHT FOR MY WAY (2017)
I think that this is my favorite drama from the ones that I saw. I love the story so much. It’s about four young adults trying to survive in today’s world. I love that it’s really honest and realistic. Childhood friends Ko Dong-man and Choi Ae-ra are trying to figure out their feelings and how their love is affecting their lives. I enjoyed it a lot as I haven’t seen a lot of dramas like this one. Some parts are very relatable which makes it even more interesting to watch.
DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN (2016)
I saw a lot of great reviews on this drama and I wasn’t disappointed when I watched it. I could definitely see why so many people love it. It’s a very unique story about solder and doctor love. I really enjoyed the mixture of important but also light hearted moments. You can easily get attached to characters as they are all cute it their own way. I really liked that it follows two couples with completely different backgrounds. It made it very interesting and fun to watch.
I've been really enjoying them and the best part is that I learned a lot about South Korean culture. I'm currently watching The Heirs which I really like so far. If you're skeptic about K-dramas just give them a chance. I'm sure that you'll like them.
