I'm all for cute do-it-yourself projects. Especially ones that include natural pieces. It's just amazing how many cool stuff you can find in nature if you just look a little bit closer. One day I was walking and I saw this cute little pine cones lying on the ground. I knew that I need to do something with them. So I decided to do Pine Cone Garland.
You will need:
* pine cones
* yarn or jute twine
* hot glue
Mine pine cones are from the nature. So I first washed them. Then I placed baking sheet on the tray and put pine cones on it in single layer. I put them in the oven for about 20 minutes on 200 degree. That will prevent and kill all the bacteria that might be in them and help them open a little bit more. If you bought your pine cones in store you can skip this step.
After they cooled down I decided which color yarn I want to use and cut the length that I want garland to be. Now I tied yarn around pine cone. If you don't want to tie it you can use hot glue and secure it that way. I tried to tie each pine cones on the same length.
And that is it. I didn't decorate mine at all. I really liked that natural look they have. But you can add ribbons, paint them, put gold on them and so on. I realized that this would be great idea to decorate Christmas three with. It would look so cute. I'm planing to do more of them maybe in white and red colors so that they will suit Christmas spirit.
